About Me/FAQ

Hi! I'm Melissa, author of A Vegas Girl at Heart. I'm a wife to Brad, and a mom to my son Austin and my stepdaughter Summer.

I am a full-time accountant, but my real passion is crafting and memory keeping. I currently run my own business called The Perfect Loop, specializing in handmade paper goods and jewelry, as well as graphic design.

I love paper crafting and jewelry making. I absolutely love stamping and I have a rather extensive collection of rubber stamps.

I participate in Project Life, a simple solution to memory keeping that I encourage you to check out. I post my layouts each week right here on my blog, if you'd like to dive into what my family life is like. Click here for a bit of an overview on Project Life.

Something I really enjoy is providing new freebies each week on my blog to my readers. Take a stroll through my freebie section and hopefully you'll find something you love.

Here are some answers to questions you may have:

Why Vegas?
Brad took me to Vegas for the first time when I was 21, and I was overwhelmed with it. I felt alive and excited and I did not want to sleep. I, of course, spotted a few brides and vowed to get married there one day. Five years later, when Brad proposed, it was no question, we were going to be married in Vegas. Our wedding was on April 23, 2009, on a gorgeous day, at Wynn Las Vegas. It's our goal to have a home there in the future, but until then, I daydream constantly about waking up somewhere near Red Rock, with a view of the Las Vegas Strip in the distance.

What camera do you use?
Check out my camera gear post.

What photo editing programs do you use?
I use Photoshop Elements regularly. I organize my photos in iPhoto currently (and occasionally do some cropping/retouching as well), but am looking for an alternative solution. For some quick online editing, I like fotoflexer.com, and ribbet.com.

Are your freebies free for commercial use?
Yup! Please check out my very brief terms of use page.

How can I use your PNG files without Photoshop?
Great question! Check out this post for a great alternative.

How do you print your photos for Project Life?
I used to print all my photos through either Walgreens or CVS. Walgreens for 4x6 prints, CVS for larger ones. I upload them and they're ready within an hour. This saves on printer ink, and the quality is much better than my home printer. I'm currently swapping back and forth between printing through those two vendors and printing at home, on my Epson Workforce 630.

I'm interested in advertising with A Vegas Girl at Heart.
A Vegas Girl at Heart currently gets between 24,000 and 46,000 page views a month, and currently has over 300 regular subscribers. I also have over 2300 followers on Pinterest. Basic sponsorship includes a 150x150 square ad in my sidebar, at $10/month (or $25 for 3 months). For additional sponsorship opportunities please email me at melissa@avegasgirlatheart.com.

I have a question I don't see listed here.
Awesome! Email me at melissa@avegasgirlatheart.com with your question.
