Summer's Prom & Graduation Day

Today I just wanted to share a few photos I took of Summer the night of her senior prom, and the day of her graduation. Can't believe the girl I met when she was just 4 years old has graduated high school and is off to Berklee next fall.

Front & back of her dress:

Summer with her dad:

And with her date (her boyfriend, Hanry. They also went to the Junior Prom together. They've been dating for over a year).

I caught this shot of her mid-conversation. I just called out, "Summer! Smile!" and she turned and I snapped her photo really quickly. Love how it turned out:

A week later, she graduated high school. She attended Arlington Catholic for Junior and Senior year (transferring out from our local high school due to being bullied to the point of depression). The ceremony was held at Bentley University, where I actually went to college. (Back then it was called Bentley College).

And for good measure, a couple of comparison shots.

This is Summer's senior photo (taken at the start of senior year), vs. her on graduation day.

And the best one, Summer around the time we met (age 4, though she MAY have been 5 in this photo), vs. graduation day.

She's grown into a beautiful and very musically talented young lady. When she sets her mind and focuses on something, she can do really well. She has shown a lot of progress academically once switching from our local high school to Arlington Catholic, and I am hoping she continues to grow during her years at Berklee.

Thanks for allowing me to brag a little about my beautiful step-daughter. :)

  1. This is one of those - I CAN'T.
Its just... when did she grow up?!?! She's the 5 year old with the cutest round cheeks ever. And she's the tiny little girl that loved to shake her booty to "YEAH" and giggle about it!
I just... I don't know how she turned into a little lady!
And how lucky she is to have kept that gorgeous face! I lost my cute around age 7! haha!

This was a beautiful post. And it gave me lots of good flashbacks of my own to watching her grow.
I'm gonna lost my shit when Austin is a young man! :-)

    1. Tell me about it. I lose my shit now when I look back at his baby pictures.

Oh my gosh, I think about her dancing to "Yeah!" every time that song comes on. Too funny. She definitely seemed to really grow up between ages like, 12 and 13. Because looking at her at our wedding she was still kind of a little girl and then BOOM. Gorgeous girly girl!

  2. What a beautiful young lady.......brag away!

  3. You and her dad have every right to be sooooooo proud. Summer is just like my daughter, an amazing product of our love, hopes and dreams. May Summer have amazing future adventures. She deserves them.

PS I love her dress and she looks fabulous.

  4. I'm sure this sounds ridiculous, but I actually think she looks like you!! What a beautiful girl! I'm sure you are so proud of her! :)

  5. Wow this made me very emotional. My stepdaughter just turned 5, and I met her all the way back when she was 3, and I was just thinking about how I'd known her for 'so long', and then I saw this post! I can't imagine what it's going to be like when she turns 18. I often wonder about what kind of person she's going to turn into.
