Traditional Scrapbook Layout - Do It Together

So much talk of December Daily albums, and of course, preparing my own, has put me in a Christmas mood early. I wanted to scrapbook a Christmas layout, so I printed off a few photos from last year and went to work.

I really wanted to work with circular photos on a layout, and this one with the kids decorating the tree seemed perfect. The circles remind me of ornaments.

I used a sheet of shimmery aqua blue card stock for my base, and added red, silver, and navy accents.

For my title, I used glittery alpha stickers to wrap it around the outside of one of the photos. When planning titles like this, I use a sheet of wax paper (the stickers won't stick) over the layout so I can figure out how I like it before sticking it down.

For the paper behind my photos, I wanted something silvery, but had no silver paper, or anything really close at all. Instead I used American Crafts white textured card stock (my favorite!) and Tsukineko Platinum Planet ink to make my own silvery paper. I just added the ink to a sponge dauber and swirled it around the page until it was covered. Then I let it dry for a few minutes, until it no longer rubbed off on my fingers if I brushed them over the paper.

I used some clear glittery buttons, along with some custom glitter brads as embellishments on several areas of the page. For the brads, I had some white glitter brads, but wanted them to be a navy color. I just used my navy blue Copic marker to re-color them. Perfection.

This little transparency was included in one of the previous Studio Calico Project Life kits. It is from BasicGrey, I believe.

For the ornaments at the bottom, I die cut them using the Stampin' Up! Holiday Ornaments Framelits. I made another small section of the custom silvery card stock for the middle ornament, and then used some navy glitter paper for the blue ones. I wrapped baker's twine through them, aligned under a strip of silver striped ribbon.

I have a feeling I will make more Christmas layouts in the future...if I don't get my fill with my December Daily album this year :)
