25 Books For Christmas
This year, I wanted to start a Christmas tradition with Austin. I'd first heard about it from my friend Lindsay. I think the real way to do is to wrap up 25 (or maybe 24) books related to Christmas, and open one each night.
For ours, I didn't think we needed 25 Christmas books, nor did I expect them to keep Austin's attention. I went over to the Used Book Superstore (which is AWESOME), and picked out 25 books that I knew he would be interested in. Things like Mickey Mouse, Thomas the Tank Engine, and a few classics such as The Little Engine That Could and Where The Wild Things Are.
Then Shannon came over and helped me wrap them all up. (Thank goodness, because I hate wrapping!).
I did design some fun tags for each of the packages that I'm hoping will be able to be reused in future years. I got inspiration for these from two places - this video from Shimelle, and a tag from Gail over at After All These Years.
I used a Stampin' Up! Framelit for the white base, sponged with Pool Party ink. The next layer is the Decorative Label punch. Red ribbon on top of that, with another Framelit for the green. Finally a snowflake from a Martha Stewart punch, and my numbers were all die cut with this Tim Holtz alphabet strip die.
I can't wait until Sunday when I can start the first book with Austin! :) Are any of you doing the book tradition? How do you do it? Do you use all Christmas books, or 24 vs 25 books, etc?
