Birthday Card for Brad

I find that I have a lot of trouble when I'm making cards for a specific person. When I know the person, it's harder for me to figure out the right colors or embellishments or style that fits them. Sometimes I nail it. Sometimes I feel like the card is just ok.

I had to sit and think for awhile about what I wanted to do for a card for Brad. I remembered that I have been saving a Pebbles journaling card that I loved for the perfect layout, and thought that it might be nice to use it on Brad's card.

This is the first time that I recall ever using a 3x4 journaling card on a greeting card. Once I chose it, I then found other papers that I thought went well, but weren't too feminine. Making a masculine card can be tough, especially when you want it to be special (like for your spouse) but not too sappy.

In the end, I think everything came together quite nicely. I love how the journaling card and the other 3x4 card which I cut from patterned paper look on the front of the card:

And the inside says:

We'll be celebrating both Brad's and Summer's birthdays while we're in Disney (Summer was born on his birthday, how cool is that?). I'll show you Summer's card next week on the blog. I have some special things planned for their birthday - dinner at the new restaurant Be Our Guest, and later, a Wishes fireworks cruise!

  1. I may have to just scraplift you - my hubby's bday is today and I have not made him a card. Been thinking about it all week and cannot for the life of me come up with anything!
