Project Life 2013: Week 26

Welcome to Project Life 2013, week 26. Last one in my first album for this year. I'm looking forward to starting off in a fresh album next week.

This layout is, fittingly, my very favorite one from this year.

It's clean and cohesive and I just love it. I specifically wanted to work with the Jade Edition this week, so that makes up the majority of my layout. I pulled out my typewriter for this layout (and actually ended up making space for it permanently in my room so I can use it more often). I wanted to type out the blog post about Austin that I wrote a few weeks ago, and once I did that card I knew I needed to finish the rest of the layout this way.

Here's the left side:

For the top two photos, they were related, so I type a bit of journaling on a Jade card, with a space somewhere in the middle where I knew I'd trim the card. I trimmed the card down, rounded the corners, and cut it down that blank space. Then I just attached them to each photo to line up together.

I picked up these fabric thickers at TJ Maxx for $1.49. Love the color and the texture, and really wanted to use them for a filler card where I didn't need any journaling. I thought using the phrase "just a week" described the ordinary week this was perfectly. On the photo of the puddle, I typed journaling on another Jade card and punched it out with the EK label punch.

For the journaling card about the photo of Austin, I had a lot of blank space. I used a stamp and then used metallic embroidery floss to hand stitch around the photo. The holes I punched using these Stampin' Up! paper piercing templates (which are AWESOME, I have all 3 packages, they have so many shapes!). The metal arrow paperclip is also from Stampin' Up! and I used a Zig glue pen to stick it to the card.

Here's the right side:

When pulling together this layout I really started with this card from the Dear Lizzy Mini Kit (HSN Autoship special). It had a pink coloring on the edge that tied in with my pink card stock title card. I typed out the journaling from that blog post I mentioned (which had to go onto the back of the card it was so long). Yes, I have typos on a lot of my typewritten cards, but I don't care. It adds charm. (Yeah, that's it). :)

I learned a tip from Marcy Penner (I hope that's who it was!) about using 2 3x4 photos in a 4x6 pocket. I took two of the Jade filler cards and attached them to a 4x6 clear transparency. That keeps them from moving around in the pocket. Perfection.

Finally, a card about a movie date night with Brad. I typed on a Jade card and cut it in half and added it to the edge of a Jade 4x6 card. The fabulous wood embellishment is from Recollections.

Once the layout was "complete" I went in and added the white sequins in various pockets. I love the little sparkly touch it adds to the whole spread. TIP: You can recolor white sequins with Copic markers. I grabbed a few different sizes of these for that very purpose, but on this spread I really liked the clean look of white.

That's it for week 26. Next week I'll be skipping a regular layout and showing off my final page of this album and the first page of album number 2.
