Random PL stuff

Ok. If you don't follow Becky, new products are on Amazon today. And she's running a bunch of sales.

30% off older core kits if you purchase a new core kit. 20% off Olive Edition accessories (binder, dividers, paper).

I did pick up the Jade Edition today (because I really dig the camera cards and the colors), and I am pretty sure that's it for awhile. I'm stocked up on Project Life, especially after I grabbed Honey at Hobby Lobby this past weekend (which is JUST so pretty!)

I've also canceled my Studio Calico subscription. I waited the required 6 months to cancel without getting hit with a $15 fee. The kits I feel have been disappointing the past few months and I don't think they're worth the $20 a month cost. I really didn't like many of the cards in June, and there were no embellishments (beyond some transparent overlays that I won't use and cork alphas). I have also been reading a LOT on some other forums about their customer service and don't feel I want to put my money towards this company when I don't agree with their business practices. So, I'm out. I'll use up the SC products I have and moving forward, will just purchase embellishments or cards here and there.

There are other monthly kit clubs for those of you who might want to join one. Cocoa Daisy, Scraptastic, Elle's Studio, and Kelly Purkey are a few. I also like the idea of the Best of Both Worlds kits by Shimelle, because you don't need to subscribe and can add the products you like to your cart without having to buy the entire thing. For now I have so much stuff and really want to make a few of my own cards and embellishments that I'm going to wait awhile to order anything new for PL. (Beyond necessities like binders and page protectors).

  4. I feel on kit overload - I have three now (seafoam, jade, blush) and I just got off the wait list for Studio Calico last month. I really liked last month but this month I'm like 'eh' I might go ahead and cancel even if I get it with $15 charge since it's not worth it to pay $80 for another four months for products I don't love.

    1. I've been selling my leftovers on eBay (in many cases for more than I paid) so I thankfully have not shelled out a full $120 to them over the 6 months.

  5. I agree with the SC PL kits, I was REALLY disappointed this month. The kit was seriously lacking and apparently the box (that I'll never use) was supposed to make up the difference. I may be dropping out as well next month if the next kit is as bad as this one was. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was not pleased and I appreciate your honesty.

  6. I also am unimpressed with the SC kits. The BH kits cost only a few dollars more & I like the cards in them so much better. I also like being able to see what I'm buying in advance without being committed. And although I was a maximalist with embellishments in the past, I'm not so much anymore. Like MW, above, I have been able to unload them on ebay to recoup my cost (& even a couple of extra bucks.) I will wait the full 6 months for that reason.

  7. I have been also not that happy with the past two SC PL Kits. I am at my 6 month mark now. So, I am also thinking of cancelling out. I did a PL share with my friends, so have 1/3 kits of Midnight and Cinnamon. I also got the Honey edition from HL. So, I have lots of stuff to do PL for the next couple of years. Although lately I have been using PL cards in scrapbook layouts as well.

  8. I FINALLY got my first Studio Calico this month after being on the waiting list for months. When I opened it I was so so excited. That is until I saw the the contents. I was bummed....some of the items like the thickers stickers are useful. My first thought was I would quit, and then I saw your blog post. I guess I am in it for the long haul of 6 months. (I didn't read the fine print about a fee for quiting.) Fingers crossed they step it up!!
Thanks so much for all your posts, I get many ideas from u and love following your blog, even though this is my first time commenting. :)

  9. Bummer to hear about the SC kits. I've read on various places on the web that many haven't been so thrilled w/it. Live and learn, I guess. Don't you just love the Honey kit? I just got it from Hobby Lobby and I have loved looking through all the cards--so bright and colorful.
