Memorial Day At The Beach

 shot with iPhone 5

This past Memorial Day, Brad and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and take Austin to the beach. I hadn't been up to Hampton Beach in NH for years, and it was fun to see all the beautiful renovations they've done along the boardwalk.

I brought my Nikon and my iPhone, and to be perfectly honest, I loved my iPhone pictures the best. But I'm sharing some from each here.  All of these photos were processed in Photoshop using the Workflow Essentials action set from Welton Arruda. The original photos were just fine, but I adore soft, vintage style beach photos and wanted to try processing these in a similar manner. I used the Beach Vintage, Buttercream, and Ocean Air color filters.

We first walked up and down the boardwalk, stopping to take Austin on the playground. He would have stayed here all day if we let him! (What kid wouldn't?)

After our walk, we spent some time on the beach. Love this photo of my boys checking out the ocean.

The waves crashed beautifully, still a bit choppy from the storms the days before and the water was bitterly cold!

Favorite part of the day was just relaxing on the sand while the boys played.

Sometimes the best photos aren't perfect. Austin's eyes are closed in this one but I just couldn't delete this happy face from my camera.

Another imperfect shot. Brad's in the process of getting up to chase after Austin.

That was our Memorial Day! The rest of the weekend rained so it was nice to get out and enjoy the sun.

I wanted to quickly remind everyone that on Saturday June 1st I'll be posting a new freebie. I'm quite excited about this one and I hope you will be too!

  1. I love these photos! It looked like a perfect beach day! It seems as though Austin loves the beach as much as we do... so maybe we have a future Brown's lover on our hands! :-)

  2. These are some GREAT photos. Isn't it sad, that your cell phone takes as good, or even better, photos than your expensive camera? I'm dealing with the same issues; however, my expensive camera takes AWESOME action photos!! Thanks for sharing!
