Project Life 2012: Week 39

Welcome to Project Life 2012, week thirty nine.

I have to admit, I am much, much happier starting with kit contents and then adding a few embellishments. It is so much easier and less stressful than trying to come up with an entire layout from scratch.

Here's my full layout:

Right off the bat, I have to tell you how excited I am about the "one little week" die cut in my title slot. You probably recognize this as a freebie from Ali Edwards.

A few weeks ago, I picked up a Cricut Expression at the flea market for just $30. After MUCH searching, I figured out how to get it to cut designs other than those on the cartridges. This means I'll be able to cut my own PNG files! I did a little (okay, a big) happy dance when I got this to work. Best $30 I've ever spent!

Edit: To cut PNG files with a Cricut you need an older version of SCAL or Make the Cut. I used a demo version of Make the Cut. This cuts an X through your design when it is done. I just stopped the machine from cutting (power off/cancel in MTC) right after it finished the design but didn't cut the X. You can't have updated your Cricut firmware past, I think, 2.34. And you need a PC. Can't be done on a Mac.  I can't help you with a link to get the older software versions any longer - the one I downloaded it from has been removed. You'll just have to do some searching on your own. I have a Silhouette now so I no longer bother trying to cut my own files on my Cricut anyway.

This week I added more journaling than usual, on the cards and on some Martha Stewart labels on my photos.

I also used a lot of stickers this week, on the week numbers and some titles on my pictures, like the "peek-a-boo" one. I don't have links to them, but the numbers are Creative Memories, the "peek-a-boo" letters are from Colorbok, and on page 2, the "yum" letters are Stickopotamus.

Speaking of page 2:

I just love that bottom picture of Austin with his Uncle Brian. Just a perfect moment captured.

Linking up to The Mom Creative, as always.

  3. I would also like to know how you used the png files with your cricut. I have the Cricut Expression, but never bought the software, Sure Cuts or something. I've been on the fence about the Silhouette...I really want to cute things out like you've done, but hate to have to buy another machine!
