Freebie Friday: 4x6 Recipe Card Clipping Mask
Something a little different this week. I've made a 4x6 recipe card clipping mask that you can use in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to add your own photo to before printing. It's the right size for Project Life, but would also be great for your recipe box - just add a photo of the food item and print!
I thought this would be fun to include a photo of you or your family/kids cooking or baking a meal, and you could include the recipe in your Project Life album. I don't happen to have any photos of Austin cooking yet, or I would have done that in my example. Instead, I used a photo of the Peanut Butter S'more Cookies Brad made awhile back.
In the first photo, I simply printed the card after I added my photo, and hand wrote the recipe. However, you could certainly add text boxes to the file before printing to type your recipe onto the card, like in this image below:
Click here to grab the file, which includes the layered PSD and a printable JPG for those of you without Photoshop or Elements. Just print the JPG and cut out the black circle part, and layer over your photo.
To use the clipping mask is very simple. Open up the PSD file and your image:
Drag your image onto your PSD file, and your layers palette should look like this. (If it doesn't, make sure you drag the photo layer above the clipping mask layer).
Next, create the clipping mask. On a Mac, you can do this by pressing command G (I believe it's control G on a PC), or selecting layer from the drop down and create clipping mask. Once you do that, your screen & layers palette should look like this, with your photo now behind the mask.
Next, hit command T (on a mac) to transform your image and drag the corners until you are satisfied with the sizing.
Once that is done, you can flatten the image and print, or add your text box(es) as I noted above to print right on the recipe card.
That's it! Just a reminder to everyone, you can quickly access all of my freebies on my new Pinterest Freebie board.
Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have a great weekend :)
