52 Reasons

I've seen a few of these 52 Reasons Why I Love You projects on Pinterest and wanted to make one for Brad to go with his Valentine's Day gift. One of my favorite posts on this is from little green bird. I used her post as inspiration for my version.

I used a basic pack of playing cards (bought at CVS), and gave them a rough sanding with some medium grit sand paper on both sides. I also used a wadded up paper towel dipped in Tim Holtz Tea Dye ink to age them a bit. I wasn't really particular about how the sanding or dyeing looked on the cards - I thought randomness was better for this project.

For the reasons, I made a blank document in PSE that was 1.5x2.5 to write my text in. I used my double circle brush, with American Typewriter font for the numbers. The font for the wording is actually Becky Higgins' free font, found at the bottom of this page. I saved each reason image and then printed them all together onto some fancy ivory printer paper. I used my paper trimmer to cut them to size, and then cut a sheet of black for each one to layer with.

On the cover I used a glitter pen over the '52' to add just a tiny bit of sparkle.

I can't wait to give this to him next week. I just know he's going to love it. Brad has always really appreciated my craft work. I hope this shows him just how appreciated he is.

  1. I can't even imagine a better gift for him. This is cards (which he loves, of course), thoughtful, hand made, beautiful AND really really sweet and touching.
I seriously think he's gonna cry a wee bit!

  3. This is such a great idea! When Matt and I were planning our wedding, my mom threw a poker-themed bridal shower and handed out decks with our info on it. Now I know what to do with them. :)

    1. No I didn't use a template. I used one of my photoshop brushes and the font mentioned above. Just typed them/stamped them in Photoshop, printed and cut.
