2011 Highs and Lows

2011 was a year of ups and downs for me.

I started off the year pregnant, in my third trimester.

I was a miserable pregnant lady. Ask any friend of mine, or my husband. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

In March, I had a baby. The love of my life was born.

In July, I got to spend time with two dear internet friends who I finally got to meet in person this year (Laura for the first time in January, SarahBeth in July).

In October, I had to say goodbye to my best animal friend of 19 years, Gizmo. This is the last picture I took of him on the day he passed away.

Finally, I just celebrated my first Christmas as a mom:

This year I watched my son go from a bump kicking inside my belly to a little man who is now crawling, standing, and feeding himself bottles.  I spent 10 weeks at home on maternity leave that I can't really even remember. I fell into a depression that I'm still struggling to pull myself out of.

I rang in 2011 in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. A crazy start to a crazy year. This year I'll be welcoming in 2012 at home, probably cuddled up in bed. A low key start to what I hope is a much more low key year.

Happy New Year, everyone.

  1. Happy New Year Melissa!

Nice post. Amazing to think how far Austin has come this year!

I hope this is the best year yet for you!

  2. Such an all-over-the-place -- yet completely awesome in so many ways -- year. :) A very happy 2012, Melissa! <3

  3. This post made me smile (a lot)! Meeting you, Brad, and Austin was definitely a highlight of 2011 for me.

    P.S. Thanks for the watermark <3 <3
