Halloween DIY: Mantel & Spook Banner
I put up my mantel decorations today, and completed another item on the DIY decoration list - the spook banner. (Here is where I got the idea - I loved Leanne's banner, found on Pinterest). I'm really quite happy with how this turned out.
Closeups:
The Halloween wood block set was from Target. They only had two left, both had been opened, and one of them had perfect letters but a bad witch hat, the other had a perfect witch hat and not so great letters, so I swapped the witch hat out and took home a perfect set.
The ghosts are two ceiling fan frosted glass shades picked up at Lowes for about $5 each. I used a black sharpie to make the eyes and mouth. Then I added a flickering pumpkin led light from Michaels to each one:
The black candelabra and black candles also came from Target. $15 for the Candelabra, and just a couple of bucks for the candles.
(This picture was taken before I added the banner). Meant to show off the wire creepy tree we bought last year but never really had a use for. I bought it from this lovely lady, the sister of a coworker.
Finally one thing I did with my banner that was different from the inspiration pictures was to use eyelets to attach the string. I didn't have small clothespins and I liked the eyelets better anyway with the black cord.
Oh, and the gray fabric was from Dollar Tree!
So far this project was the most fun, but I have a few more to go, so stay tuned!
