Project Life: Newborn Shoot

I spent two days working on this layout. I had to overcome my intense, obsessive need to finish things quickly and actually do it right. The result, I'm quite happy with.

Here's a photo of the whole spread (Edit: I promise you, my carpet is not grungy, though it does have a few scattered bits of paper on it. It just doesn't photograph well. It's only 2 years old and it's in a room with only light foot traffic).

I decided I wanted to go for an all black & white layout (except for the announcement card insert, which was run in color).

Closer views of the page on the left:

The patterned paper at the top left I made by inking up a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and running it through my Creatopia. I used a white gel pen for the title. The journalling card was made using a freebie from Ali Edwards and lined journal paper I have had for awhile. I actually found this stack of journal paper, taken out of the journal when the binding started to fall apart, and I think it will come in handy for journalling cards. The letters are chipboard stickers from K&Company. And the border and text on the feet photo was made in Photoshop Elements.

The quote is from the Die Cuts with a View Sentiments vellum quote stack (which appears to have been discontinued, but you can find other vellum quote stacks by DCVS here), and the baby words insert was my own creation, which I posted here as a freebie.

  1. Gosh, Melissa, this is beautiful! Love the black and white and the "tiny feet" text :-) so so sweet.

  2. Aw, thank you! I worked really hard on this one! :)

Of course, I think I'm doing the opposite of what Project Life is supposed to be. I'm making it way more difficult!
