I realize I haven't been updating on Austin that frequently on this blog - I've been using my LiveJournal more often for those type of posts, so I thought I'd post an update for you all here.

Austin is doing really well. I, of course, have no other children to compare him to, but things are going fairly smoothly at home. I think we have it easy, even if it doesn't seem that way to us sometimes. He sleeps all night, waking only for feedings. We feed him between 10 and midnight, and he'll wake between 3 and 5 for a feeding, and then by the time his next feeding rolls around, one of us is up. He's now taking 4.5-5.5 ounces of formula in a feeding, and eating every 5 to 7(!) hours. The 7 hours was probably a fluke - last night he ate at 9:30 and didn't wake up until 4:30am to eat, which was awesome.

At his 2 week pedi appointment, he weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces. We have another appointment on Friday for his 1 month (omg!) appointment, so we'll see what he gained his first month. I take tons of pictures, and some video, so that I can remember what he was like when he was this small. It's sad that he is already bigger than he was when he was first born :(

He loves baths now (didn't like the first one but every one since, he's enjoyed). Yesterday we gave him a bath and he stared at his own reflection in the mirror the entire time. He smiles all the time (whether it's gas or not, I totally don't care, it's a cute happy baby face and I love it). He doesn't really enjoy tummy time yet, but the last time I put him down on his mat he didn't scream, so that's a step in the right direction.

I've pretty much recovered from pregnancy, LOL. I feel like myself again. It's amazing the difference - I no longer feel like something else is in control of my body. My incision is fully healed on the outside, but the inside is still healing. (I'm in no pain, but they leave a knot on the outside so that you can tell when the stitches inside dissolve, and it hasn't dissolved yet). I lost 24 of the 40 pounds I gained, so 16 left to lose by exercise (when I'm allowed to again) and diet.

I'm working on a blog post that pulls my pregnancy and birth and our first month all together. There was a post I read by a woman that a friend linked me to, where she talked about how much her pregnancy sucked, and it really helped me mentally while I was feeling awful. I thought it would be good to have an entry on here that if someone were searching and came across, they could read and get the whole picture in just one entry, rather than scrolling back through. Plus, I need to pull in some posts from LiveJournal as well. Not that any of the information will be new to those of you who have been following me all along.

Well, off to dress my baby like a cow! (Pics to come, I promise!) Happy Easter, everyone!
