Card Making

I decided a week or two ago I was going to make my own holiday cards this year, and holiday gift tags. I also have decided to make my own thank you cards for the baby shower. I'm going to start soon - they're most likely not going to be baby themed. I decided I'd fold them up myself from cardstock, and decorate with whatever scraps, punches, and stamps I have.

On Scrapbook Memories, they showed how you can just easily make your own envelopes out of regular paper, by simply folding the paper around the card. Duh. So much easier than cutting out an envelope from a template. I don't know why I never thought of that before. Who cares if my homemade envelopes are perfectly cut - as long as they cover the card, that's what matters, right?

Anyway, these holiday and thank you cards will be fun for me, and I can't wait to start them. I may do a few today and photograph them for you, we'll see.

Oh, and Michaels' and Joann's are dangerous to me right now. I spent a good amount of time digging through Joann's $1 areas and clearance racks, and found a ton of clear stamps for $1 (I picked up 4 different alphabet stamp sets, plus baby ones, and fall ones, and some paw prints). Also, in the clearance section found baby stickers and alphabet stickers.

The fall stamps I want to use for Thanksgiving - I thought making my own chargers might be nice, but I'm not sure if I really want to figure out how to cut such a large circle. But, I could make cute placecards, maybe? Ah, I love crafts!

EDIT: Meant to add this - I found a site last week, http://www.free-cardmaking.com/  that is nice because it has lots of free ideas for making cards. It does have LOADS of ads - each PDF you download has like, a page of ads, then the card, then another page of ads, but I still think its great for ideas. So, maybe check it out. You need to sign up to use the site though.
