Daycare

This morning, we took a tour of the daycare and signed up Baby Whittaker for Fridays starting sometime in May. The director actually recognized Brad from back when Summer used to go there (8 years ago!). Crazy! Anyway, for now, we'll do the 1 day a week, and then as the baby hits preschool age (2 1/2 to 3) we'll most likely go to 3 days a week.

It's currently $132 for the one day, but they said a full week toddler age is like, $307 or something, so clearly it goes down the more days you add, and also, the older the child becomes. They have a really great program though, to start teaching the infants things early on, which I think will be great. They do loads of art projects, sensory learning, and obviously interaction with other babies. They'll take them outside, they track diaper changes and feedings and all the usual stuff, I imagine. I'm so new to the baby thing that it's hard to pull out things that they might do that other centers might not, but anyway, they seem great. (And they should be, being the most expensive in the area!). I also like that you need to enter a pin code to enter the building, and to leave as well.

It's nice though - they have two ages of infant rooms, 6 weeks to 12 months, then 12 to 20 months, then two or three toddler rooms, then two preschools, and then one in between that I can't remember what it was called, and finally, a kindergarten, which we wouldn't use, I'd want the child to go to the public kindergarten to get them making friends within their future school system.

We get to find out what the baby is in just 3 weeks. Holy crap! (I know, assuming we have a cooperative baby). I can't wait! :)

  1. Wow, 3 weeks!! AHH!

This place sounds so nice, and yet all I can see in my head is the place in Toy Story 3! :-)
